Bridges

Bridges are also a permanent fixture in a patient’s mouth and, as the name suggests, bridges the gap between one or more missing or damaged teeth.

They are made from metal and porcelain so they give strength whilst looking natural. As well as correcting the appearance of the teeth, they help to restore normal eating, chewing and biting functions.

At our Weybridge-based referral centre we assess the condition of the patient’s teeth to determine whether they require a conventional bridge that uses the side teeth for support or a resin-bonded bridge that has ‘wings’ to affix to adjacent teeth. The latter does not require any surrounding teeth to be filed down and often used in cases where just one front tooth is missing. We are keen to preserve tooth tissue and hence carefully select cases, which would benefit from restoration with a dental bridge.
