Botulinum Toxin?

Botox injections have a bad reputation for given a false-looking ‘frozen’ appearance due to clumsy overuse so we use just the right amount where it is needed to give subtle, natural results.

At the Oatlands Referral Centre we use Azzalure, a type A strain of Botulinum toxin to reduce the ability of the nerves to react to stimuli, so not causing the muscles to move and therefore stop the muscle from causing wrinkles.

When there is dramatic movement from muscles, such as frowning or excessive smiling, the muscle creates lining in the skin. Azzalure is injected into areas on the face using ultra-slim needles that cause no discomfort; there may be some mild swelling or redness but this will subside within 20 minutes. The final effects typically last between 3-4 months.

The most common types of lines we treat are frown lines between the eyebrows, crow’s feet by the eyes, forehead lines, nose wrinkles and lines both above the lips and either side (Marionette lines). Botox injections can also be used to stop the upper lip from lifting too high when one smiles and showing too much of the gum line.

These injections should cause minimal discomfort but we can use a topical numbing agent if requested to do so.
